H E A L T H 4 A F R I C A -- the hospital project

Inside our Health team we have a supreme group of expertise from Ministers of health, to Neuro-Surgeon's, to Pediatric doctors, to designers, architects, building contractors, and financial planners... and more!  We are blessed with one of the best power teams that can possibly be assembled.

Think of an over crowded hospital... bursting at the seams, ill-equipped.  Think of a country that spends one-third of its GDP on paying off JUST the interest alone of its foreign loans/debt.  Where is the budget for healthcare?

Think of the fact that there is 141% occupancy, and the children's ward of the area hospital is actually children climbing in to the women's ward because there is no space for them.  Four to every bed is the normal.  Equipment?  No cat scan, no MRI machine...Overcrowding in Eldoret

Think of the fact we are talking with Kenyan Doctors who are leaving Kenya because of a frustration that 'how can we practice medicine with no medical equipment and overcrowding.'  ("Give us the basics you have in the West and we can do miracle in Africa.")

Think of the Mother's who routinely have 10-children... as they expect FIVE will die before reaching their teens.

Think of a great complex that has been functioning since 1917, has been supported by PEPFAR, Bill Gates, a consortium of American Universities... think of a team that has been audited for years by Americans, Brits & Kenyan authorities, and has been accountable to the last single cent.

IT BOILS DOWN TO A BASIC NEED.  The Children of this area (catchment area 22-million) need a hospital with equipment sized to a child, a bed without three other bodies lying there, (often with conflicting diseases)... they need what the majority of the children of the West grow up knowing as a birthright - healthcare.  The kids have no voice, but they are crying...

Think of the fact you can be a part of a brand new life defining building.  This is a one-off project that will be sustained by the Ministry of health.  The Kenyan Minister of health and the MOI Referral have committed to the running costs once it is completed (doing something that have done for the past century).  We are just getting it done, for $15 million.

After 15-years of experience in Kenya, this is the first water-tight project I have found.  It is almost too simple to be true, and all the medical experts I have spoken too, whether they be American or Kenyan, who have delved through the plans, the studies, and the proposal, agree that this is a solid and very doable, and will be a hugely effective, project.  It is going to happen, and thousands upon hundreds of thousand of lives will be bettered because of it.  People talk about sustainability, but all the 'white elephant ghost projects you see are the ones that the Western Investors did not believe and invest in the local work power.  The MOI Referral has been through the fights for Independence, changing Governments, wars, and more, and continues to run in an impressive fashion for the last 90-years.  It is a center of excellence for the region and well known in the Western medical world.  Please help the children of Kenya get their own public hospital in this amazing set up; a place where the Kids are the priority.  We have a fantastic team of Doctors, builders, Ministers, & members of parliment, to make this dream a reality.  Toby Tanser, Founder/CEO.
