Dear Donor,
Why choose Shoe4Africa? There are over 1.2 registered non-profits in America... and we might well be one of the smallest. If you give money to Shoe4Africa we will not be spending it on office space, or on a staff - we have neither. You will not be giving money to an organization that looks at Africa and adopts projects.
You will be supporting a charity whose CEO spends a third of the year in Africa living with the community asking how Shoe4Africa can better serve, plus ensuring that 100% of the donation goes to its purpose; overseeing, guiding, helping, but serving.
Pound for pound I think there are very few charities that achieve so much, with so little resources. We also, against the odds, do what we say we will do. When the hospital idea was launched people laughed at our audacity 'You? Build East Africa's first public children's hospital? You're a shoe charity!' When we went ahead and built our first school and immediately had 500-school kids in a better place people who followed the charity started to believe.
When Kenya had its worst ever times, and the large aid agencies were airlifting its staff out of Kenya we stayed. We had never put on peace programs yet that was the impending need - so we did it, and we did it well. When you donate dollars if you want those dollars in your hand to go to actual work I can promise you we will do that.
We have been lucky, a large number of celebrities, VIP's etc have been involved in Shoe4Africa. Not because we 'engaged' their services, but because they saw our sincerity, they realized our passion, wanted to be a part of our dreams.
The dreams are you don't have to be a large machine to make change, dreams are for free and if you follow them amazing things can happen. Shoe4Africa was started accidentally, it took its own form and shape... it remains a very small unit of project volunteers, a board of directors and myself,
But the proof is, we get things done. So if you can support us, thank you, from the heart!
Toby
