Currently, for a population of 850 million people, Sub Saharan Africa has only one dedicated public children’s hospital. It is located in Cape Town, South Africa.
In January, Shoe4Africa started building the first one in Kenya which will be number two in Sub Saharan Africa, once completed. All this is made possible through the determination shown by Toby and his great Shoe4Africa team as well as all the generous donations made by people like you.
In 2012, I signed up for my first ever marathon in support of Shoe4Africa and the hospital project, and I was very happy and proud to be able to collect more than USD 8000.
The marathon was cancelled due to hurricane Sandy, so I only had one choice: run my first unoffical marathon in Central Park, commit to train hard for another year, come back to New York in 2013 to complete my mission and most importantly try to raise some more money to make a small contribution to the hospital also in 2013.
So, if you would like to either support Shoe4Africa or help me stay motivated through another 10 months of intense training please do consider making a small donation. Every dollar counts and you will really make a difference!
