About Us

Shoe 4 Africa is excited to announce that we will again be having a charity team with guaranteed entries running in the NYC marathon, Nov 7, 2010. Shoe 4 Africa is an organization founded in 1995, and was started with volunteers collecting lightly used running shoes and distributing them in Africa. The charity's latest project is to build the largest and only public children's hospital in Sub Saharan Africa, which is critically needed with high rates of mortality in the area. ALL LEVELS OF RUNNERS ARE WELCOME - FROM BEGINNERS WHO HAVE NEVER RUN A RACE BEFORE TO ELITE RUNNERS!

Our charity team is the one to run with for the following "top 10" reasons:

10. Chance to run for something better - use your running for charity. It will make your 26.2 fly by!

9. Guaranteed entry for those that do not make it into the NYC marathon lottery and avoid the 9 race plus volunteer work route

8. Facebook group to keep you posted on the latest and greatest events and network with other team members

7. Support for your fundraising including a dynamic website you can use to help solicit contributions

6. Amazing team members and opportunity to meet some really diverse people who all have a passion for running and giving back to the community

5. Super cool parties pre and post the marathon in NYC (including pasta party at "Goose's" (Anthony Edward's) apartment in NYC)

4. Awesome team shirts that will help you stand out from the rest of the 43,000+ runners, and fund raising prizes/ incentives

3. Opportunity to have coaching from world leading expert, Toby Tanser, author of the book More Fire, and best seller Train Hard, Win Easy

2. Join celebrity runners (last year's team included Anthony Edwards, Sarah Jones, James Legros and Tegla Leroupe)

AND OF COURSE:

1. We will be doing some really critical work helping to build the largest children's hospital in Kenya!

Team members are expected to raise $4,000 USD for Shoe 4 Africa. Shoe 4 Africa is a 501c3 organizations and all contributions are fully deductible with 100% of the proceeds going to the hospital. Contributions can be made via either check or credit card on your own personal site.

Feel free to do a google search on Shoe 4 Africa - you will find lots of our press coverage last year in the NY times and a video of our team running posted on You Tube.
